The “fourth trimester” has tremendous capacity to be a time in which birthers and babies thrive.

Unfortunately, in our modern culture there is less emphasis on what is needed during this time for optimal healing and wellness. Instead, there is a focus on things getting ‘back to normal’, and not enough time spent resting, healing and engaging ways to nurture ourselves through this enormous change.

Our physiology requires us to rest deeply, nurture our bodies with nutrient dense foods, receive bodywork and be in contact with community who love us. When we put these things aside, Parents often find negative physical symptoms impacting them immediately, or later in life (specifically in the menopausal years).

Postpartum support is a powerful investment on your long-term health and well-being.

Postpartum doula services can include…

 

  • Feeding support (referral to a lactation consultant if needed) 

  • Baby-care so you can rest 

  • Assistance with after-birth (vaginal or cesarean) healing/recovery:: 

    • sitz baths

    • light massage

    • creating/using castor oil packs

    • guided meditation

    • moxabustion treatment

    • vaginal steaming

    • closing-of-the-bones

  • Preparing warming, healing foods in your home

  • Basic household tasks 

  • Lending library of reading materials

  • Processing your birth story

  • Support and guidance for creating gentle sibling adjustment

  • Resources and introduction of postpartum professionals in our area

  • Unlimited phone, text and email support from the time of hire 

  • Earth centered practices to support your initiation to parenthood

  • To be used within the first 6 weeks after birth, ideally once/week
